Geography Links

Online material that might be of use to teachers of Geography.

Terraserver
The Terraserver website is an ambitious project to provide satellite images of the whole of the Earth's surface.  This site can sometimes be quite slow so have an alternative activity planned when using this site in class.

Volcanic Island
Australian scientists from the CSIRO have filmed a dramatic underwater volcano building a new island in the Pacific.

Volcano World
Arguably the best site for studying Volcanoes, the Volcano World web site has information on the worlds volcanoes and recent or historical eruptions.  A search facilitly allows the user to locate volcanoes by region or type.

Quick Maps
This site allows you to view maps of locations in Canada, USA, Mexico, Europe and The World (Topographical). Best of all you can search for a particular location. A great site for anyone needing to import a modern map into their project or assignment.

Trinity House - Britain's Coastline
Trinity House provides a network of lighthouses around Britain's coastline.  This excellent site describes each of the lighthouses with photographs and maps.

Geothermal Energy
The focus of this web site is education regarding geothermal energy production.  The site contains a number of "hot" links to maps and facts. Of interest are the slide show and "ask an expert" pages.

Population Research
This web site contains population statistics and graphs that would be great for research purposes into population change across continents.

Earth Science
This site has some interesting content including stimulus material that can be downloaded.  A great site for material on rocks, minerals, fossils, geological time and more.
